Lindsay a Royal Navy Reservist successfully completed her RYA Coastal Skipper Certificate and Emile from South Africa his RYA Competent Crew Course. The week saw a mix of weather all warm though with some superb heavy weather sailing. Emile is off to our Gibraltar base for a month of Tidal Sail Training over the Christmas break. He will experience at least two Xmas parties, the first in Barcelona and the second in Gibraltar on the 22nd December at a reunion of old school sailing chums. We look forward to welcoming Marco a Yachtmaster Candidate from last year back to Gibraltar for the celebrations. Port Balis Barcelona Spain RYA Day Day Skipper Training on board a new Dufour 405

Own boat tuition +34 972 662 494 on board a new Dufour 405 in Port Balis Spain included a full over view of the new yacht for our client. We gave the yacht a thorough inspection, set up the navigation equipment including Plotter, Radar, and VHF, which included inputting the new MMSI number and ensuring the user was a qualified SRC VHF Operator. There were many items on board that had not been fully explained which we were able to sort out including, full engine explanation, bleeding the system of air and water, changing spares (including which ones to purchase) and teaching our client how to maintain and repair whilst at sea. Some items were not obvious but we found them such as no holding tank forward (optional extra), reefing lines incorrectly labelled, lack of third reefing line, our client was told the plotter did not swival upwards in the cockpit which meant you had to lay flat to view it.... nonsense! We explained how and now it works properly!!!!! We ensured our client can now lift the liferaft and launch and lift the rear transom step correctly in order to achieve this. What started out as a RYA Day Skipper Practical course on one of our yachts prior to the clients new purchase is now concluding with RYA Own Boat Tuition. We cover everything from Practical RYA Sailing Tuition, RYA Theory and of course getting the most out of your yacht.

Working directly under the Chief Instructor the successful candidate will be able to communicate at all levels, have impeccable personal sailing skills and be able to offer other suitable qualifications, such as STCW 95 Instructor, RYA First Aid Instructor, RYA Diesel Instructor, RYA Sea Survival Instructor, RYA VHF/SRC Instructor, RYA Radar Instructor. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Denny our new Chief Instructor here at Blue Oyster Water Sports (Costa Brava Water Sports). Rob is a Senior Dinghy Instructor, Personal Water Craft Instructor, and Power Boat level 2 Instructor, he oversaw the RYA Centre Inspection recently and ensured an excellent presentation to RYA Inspector Oliver Ludlow. Rob's aim now is to develop the Water Sports Centre to offer all RYA Courses, RYA Instructor Training, Summer Camps, and other Centre Water Sports Activities. Blue Oyster Sailing which has Tidal RYA Training Centre Recognition in Gibraltar, non Tidal from Barcelona - Escala and Blue Oyster Watersports Coastal will further his on the water ambitions by putting Rob through our RYA Fast Track Yachtmaster training program. We are offering RYA Sailing Courses and Sailing Holidays aboard large comfortable 48 foot Yachts throughout the season May to October on the Cote d'Azur. These courses commence in Nice (easy access by low cost airlines including EasyJet) and will visit Antibes, St Tropez, Cannes, Monaco, and VilleFranche. All of our RYA Courses are taught onboard or you can just enjoy a 7 day sailing holiday. There will be plenty of time ashore to visit these historic places and time in Europe's most spectacular anchorages. Well done to our Fastrack Yachtmaster students who have just completed their 1250 Tidal miles in the Atlantic. Very difficult weather conditions gave the team all the experience they needed for heavy weather Atlantic sailing, and an exciting non stop sailing adventure. All of the Skippers successfully completed in addition their qualifying 60 mile passages. Now they are undertaking their final Yachtmaster Prep training prior to their RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore Assessment on 24th May.
