Beautiful Day on the Costa Brava with Barcelona Sea School

Today we are bending on new sails for the Beneteau 473 Dogstar and quite possibly heading out. The sun is shining and the sea smooth with light winds. We are readying all the yachts for the Fastrack Yachtmaster course starting on the 4th January. The plan is to take Dogstar south towards Gibraltar in the last week or so of January 2010 - once the crew have built up sufficient crewing skills. We  have a berth available for the leg down, milebuilding or sail training. Once there we´ll complete the tidal sailing required for the RYA Yachtmaster Assessment, and visit Morocco, Portugal and possibly the Canary Islands. Great adventure sailing for the New Year!

If you fancy a sail one weekend in January courtesy of the News Team just answer these 3 short questions and email them back, Editors decision is final - of course.

1. What name would you give to the concave curve along the foot of a mainsail?
2. What sound signal would the Skipper of a sailing yacht make if he was intending to overtake another vessel on her port side?
3. What do the depths on a non-tidal nautical chart refer to?

Best of luck. The news Team are off sailing - in the sun.
