RYA Day Skipper Theory Courses Spain

Well done to Frans and Bill who after a very studious week passed their RYA Day Skipper Theory course today. Long hours and some late evenings have paid off and now they are the proud holders of an Internationally Recognised Navigational Qualification. Force 9 winds have buffeted the marina for two days so the respite in warm classrooms with a panoramic sea view have been well received. Frans has introduced the sailing team to http://www.marinetraffic.com/ an AIS tracking website which everyone should take a look at, we introduced him to http://www.passageweather.com/ which explained why the Gulf de Lyon has been on fire this week.We have followed Pink Gin, a 152 foot Baltic Yacht as it tracked past our base on its way to Cape Verde. The yacht disappeared from AIS off Valencia, if anyone knows its present location, there are some anoracs here who would like to know! Super Yacht Caprice also vanished off Malaga, any sitings much appreciated. So to Dan, well he is due back onboard Monday, having already passed RYA Day Skipper Theory and half way to RYA Coastal. To the chap in Port D'Aro who failed to furl his Genoa properly when he left last.........you now need a new one! Hasta Luego
