Two of our Instructors have spent the week on Challenger a new Grand Soleil 50, fully equipped with extended racing rig, and a superb Code 5 Gennecker. Challenger is probably the only Grand Soleil with a hull colour of racing red, hard to miss in her cruising area around Cannes, Nice and Saint Tropez. The owner wanted the yacht set up to race in the Regatta´s around Cannes for this season. The Costa Brava Sailing/Barcelona Sailing School Instructors spent the week setting up the new North Sails for race trim, and working with the owner on launching, tacking, and furling his new Code 5 Gennecker. Challenger seemed to want to sail everywhere at 8 knots, and heaving to proved harder than usual as the huge mainsail just kept driving to windward. Need a clue on how to stop a yacht like Challenger dead in the water..........just email us we´ll send you all the info, there just is not enough room here. The RYA Instructors put Challenger through her paces in the company of the owner and his family who arrived from Holland, and the UK at various times due to disrupted air travel. More training aboard Challenger is booked for the week commencing 17th May in Frejus, Saint Tropez, Cannes and Nice so if you see Challenger give us a call on 16!
